Issues trying to record - CAPTURE.AUDIO

This article can support you with issues in the studio once you've successfully connected to the CAPTURE.AUDIO app.

If you haven't connected to the CAPTURE.AUDIO app see: Issues connecting to CAPTURE.AUDIO

If you've successfully recorded but are having issues retrieving your recordings see: Issues with my recorded tracks

I'M SEEING A NO AUDIO DETECTED ERROR

This error appears when our system doesn't receive any audio signal, or the audio is way too quiet to be recorded.

1 - Start playing!

This error most often appears when people connect to the app before they start playing any music through the mixer. Start playing and you should see this error disappear and the VU meter lighting up.

2 - Check the REC OUT cables in the back of the mixer

The CAPTURE.AUDIO recording system needs to be plugged into the mixer. There should be 2 x RCA cables plugged into the REC OUT L/R outputs of the mixer. Sometimes these can be unplugged or loose - if you can see loose cables then try plugging them into the REC OUT ports.

THE APP LOOKS FROZEN / THE WAVEFORM HAS FROZEN BUT THE TIMER IS STILL COUNTING

Sometimes the app appears to freeze mid-session, sometimes the timer is still counting while some parts of the screen are stuck or not responding.

The app freezing does not impact any recordings in progress so keep calm and continue your mix while you try to resolve the issue:

1 - Refresh the page

Try refreshing your phone's browser. Reopening or refreshing the page won't impact any recordings in progress. This usually fixes a frozen app.

2 - Close the browser and reopen the link

3 - Still stuck?

If the app was working when you started recording, the recording will continue until the end of your booking and should be available after your session - so keep playing!

THERE'S A BUZZING NOISE IN THE ROOM

Sometimes there’s a buzzing noise that’s caused by a microphone being left on. Switch the mic off and it should resolve the buzzing.

TOO QUIET OR TOO LOUD

Check the levels across the deck and set according to the loudest part of the mix

Check where levels are set on the gain / trim knobs, for all of the channels in use. On a Pioneer DJM 900NXS for example, these are the grey knobs near the top of the mixer labeled 'TRIM'.

If 2 tracks are being mixed, check both tracks.

If there’s a mic being used as well this may also increase the overall recording levels.

I'M GETTING AN OFFLINE ERROR

NOTE: an offline error doesn't usually impact a recording that started successfully, if you get this error while recording, keep playing!

The offline error appears when the connection between your phone and the CAPTURE.AUDIO system has been lost. This means that you can’t tell the CAPTURE device to start or stop recording, however if a recording is already in progress and there hasn’t been any power issues, the CAPTURE device should continue recording.

Close the tab and re-open again via the SMS link

This may re-establish connection to the CAPTURE device. It won’t impact your recording to close the tab and re-open.
