If you are planning on using a USB stick with the CDJs, then you will need to:
- Make sure your USB device is type 3.0 (3.1 may work on 3000s, but we advise 3.0 on all devices). 64GB and below are recommended due to compatibility. Higher capacity (128GB and above) isn't recommended but should still work.
-
Format it to FAT32 ahead of your session. Formatting will erase all of the USB's data, so make sure you've backed it all up first! The only format that always works on all Pioneer CDJs is FAT32 or MS-DOS (FAT). Instructions on how to format are in the first video below.
Windows: you are required to download an extra app that will allow you to format USB drives larger than 32GB, more info on the video below. - Export your tracks from your laptop through Rekordbox onto the USB stick.
We recommend using a high-quality USB drive, e.g. those made by SanDisk, as these tend to have less chance of becoming corrupt over time.
