Here's a quick guide on how to apply effects to a mic or instrument through the mixer in our Rehearsal studios.
If the mixer is an Alto Live 1202:
-
Follow all steps of this guide, to correctly set up a mic/instrument with the mixer.
-
Turn up the DFX RTN slider, in the bottom right corner of the mixer, and set it to the white area. This works as the main effect control for all channels on the mixer. Make sure its mute button is off.
-
Using the rotary knob, choose an effect (or Preset) on the Alesis DFX section. Each effect group (eg. group 00-09, group 10-19, 20-29 etc.) corresponds to one effect which gets more intense the higher the second digit is. Example: if we pick Delay (00-09), setting the rotary knob to 00 will apply a small amount of effect to our instruments, whereas 09 will apply the largest amount. You can set it to a X8 or X9 value.
-
Now, on the instrument channels we want to apply the effect on, turn up the DFX knob to the desired amount.
-
The FX is now being applied to your mic/instrument(s).
If the mixer is a Proel MQ12USB:
-
Follow all steps of this guide, to correctly set up a mic/instrument with the mixer.
-

-
Using the rotary knob, pick the effect/preset group you like (From 00-09 to 90-99). Check the label to help you pick an effect and choose a X8 or X9 value [What is this? See Step 3 of the Alto mixer tutorial above].
-
On the mic/instrument channels we want to apply the effect on, turn up the white Aux 2 FX Post knob to your liking.
-
The FX is now being applied to your mic/instrument(s).
