Rehearsal: Drum Kit Troubleshooting

Quick Fixes for the Most Common Drum Kit Problems

If any part of the drum kit has a fault, message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort you out with spares.
Please note, spares is reserved for broken or missing equipment. If you require additional cymbals or stands, you will need to bring gear with you.

We carry felts, beaters, pedals, clutches, stools, stands and snare skins on-site, plus drum keys where available, so we should be able to replace or fix most issues. Wing nuts, felts and sleeves aren't available at sites using No Nuts stands (see below).

Some of our locations use 'No Nuts' on the cymbal stands, so you won't see the usual nuts or felts you might expect. 'No Nuts' is a type of hardware that secures cymbals without needing wing nuts. Instead of tightening a wing nut, you simply slide the cymbal onto a specialised top part of the stand, and a built-in mechanism holds it in place.

Drum Stool/Throne Not Staying Up

  • If you have a drum key, tighten the clamps above the wingnut to stop the drum stool from sliding. See picture below.

Drum Stool/Throne Jammed or Stuck

  • If you have a set of drumsticks, place one on each side of the wingnut and turn to unjam the drum stool. See picture below.

Snare Drum Buzzing while Singing

  • Check that the snare wires are engaged. If not needed, flick the lever on the snare to disengage the wires and stop the buzzing.
