What is CAPTURE.AUDIO?
CAPTURE.AUDIO is a feature we have launched in a range of our DJ studios, which allows you to use your phone to start and stop recording your session with pro audio, so that you can download them from your PIRATE account after the session. Your recording/s will take up to 24 hours to upload to your account. You can find out more about CAPTURE.AUDIO at https://pirate.com/en/capture/.
PLEASE NOTE: Capture audio is only available in certain DJ studios, we do not have this feature available in rehearsal, recording, dance or podcast studios. The presence of a Capture sticker in a room, does not mean the room has got Capture - it only refers to the fact it may have had it in the past or it is not available at the moment due to a fault.

How does it work?
Connect your phone to the studio's Pirate Wifi network. Click on your unique invite link, sent by SMS 10 minutes before your booking or log in an click on OPEN CAPTURE.AUDIO on your booking.
We will record the output from the mixer, you just have to start/stop recording using your phone. Your recordings will be saved to the cloud for you to download later on from your Pirate account. Your recording will upload to your account within the following 24 hours from the end of your session.
How do I get started?
- Connect to the Pirate Wifi. It's free and doesn't require a password.
- Log in and click on your booking. From there tap on OPEN CAPTURE.AUDIO to show the recording screen. If you're set up correctly, the screen will look like this:
When you're ready to go, press RECORD to start recording.
How can I tell if it's recording correctly?
The display on your phone will indicate when a recording is in progress. Check the waveform to see that the music played from the decks is being captured. The level meter should be green and moving between Good and Too Loud. If it turns red, it means that the gain is set too high and you should turn down the TRIM knob on the relevant channels of the mixer. If no audio is being detected, check the RCA cables are plugged into “REC-OUT” on the back of the mixer.
Correct setup, recording in progress:
What happens if my phone runs out of battery, the screen locks, or I get a call?
If you start a recording, the system will keep on recording until you press stop or the booking ends, even if your phone runs out of battery. If your screen locks or you get a call, you can simply return to the recording screen in your browser and after a short while it will automatically reconnect so that you can control your recording session again.
Will CAPTURE record onto my phone?
No, recordings are not saved onto your phone. They are captured from the mixer and uploaded straight to the cloud.
Where do I access my recordings?
You will receive an email when your recordings are ready to download, typically within an hour of the end of the booking (up to 24 hours). Visit https://book.pirate.com/my/recordings to download your recordings.
How long are my recordings stored for?
You have 60 days to download your recordings. After that, they will be permanently deleted.
