Audio issues

No sound from the speakers

Check that the speakers are powered on: look for the power light, and check the switch at both the back of the speaker and the wall socket.

On the DJM, set all top channel dials to LINE for USB stick and A or B for laptop (whichever one you've plugged your USB cable into).

Set BALANCE and MASTER VOL to the middle position.

Leeds only: channels need to be set to Digital at the top of the mixer.

Only one speaker works

Make sure the BALANCE knob is set to the middle position.

Screen issues

CDJ screen is completely black

Unplug the power cable from the CDJ. Turn the CDJ off, then plug the power cable back in and turn the CDJ back on. This is usually due to the power cable not being fully in.

CDJ screen not showing waveform

This is because the USB was not prepared through Rekordbox, or the preparation failed. You'll need to prepare your USB again with a laptop. See how to format and export tracks to a USB drive for full steps.

Playback and jogwheel issues

Can't cue or hot cue a track, the previous one loads instead

Hold press the Auto Cue button down until "A CUE" (in red) appears on the screen. The CDJ will now stop cueing older tracks and load normal cues instead.

Track stops when I touch the jogwheel (I want to scratch)

Make sure the jog mode button is displaying Vinyl and not CDJ.

Track skips or stutters when I hit cue or pause

Make sure you're on Vinyl jog mode, as skipping is a feature of CDJ jog mode.

Still not working? Try a CDJ reset.

Track is playing backwards

Make sure the left-hand side switch is not set to REV. Flip the switch up to FWD.

CDJ reverse switch set to FWD
Cue/play button isn't responding

Check Auto Cue is enabled. Make sure the CDJ is not in reverse mode, and that you're not in CD mode.

If needed, remove any USB drives and hard reset: switch the CDJ off at the back, hold down the USB Stop button, the Disc Eject button, and the power button together until you see a message that settings have been restored to factory defaults. Let go of all three, then switch the unit off and on again.

Still no luck? Get in touch on live chat or WhatsApp.

Jogwheel isn't moving the track at all

Change the jogwheel mode on the right-hand side of the CDJ to Vinyl mode.

Tempo slider is unresponsive

This happens when beat sync was used on a deck and then turned off, leaving the slider in the wrong position. Move the slider all the way up, then all the way down, to reset the tempo sync.

Tempo is jumping on its own

Usually the CDJ is struggling to analyse the tracks, or needs a hard reset. Re-export your tracks through Rekordbox and try a reset.

Connectivity issues

Can't connect to my laptop, or my laptop won't work with CDJs

CDJ 2000 NXS2: you need 3 USB cables and a USB hub. Without all 3 cables, connection isn't possible. For a full setup guide, please see connecting your laptop to a CDJ 2000 NXS2

Error codes

NO USB / NO DISC

Possible format or size issue. USB drives must be formatted to FAT32. For formatting instructions, See how to format and export tracks to a USB drive for full instructions.

Emergency loop

Generally caused by a fault with the USB/SD card slot or the Ethernet link port, or by a corrupt or incorrectly formatted track. Try re-uploading tracks or gently wiggling the USB drive.

Same error keeps happening? Get in touch so we can move you to another room.

E-8301 to E-8305

Relates to a formatting issue: a corrupt audio file, unsupported characters in the file name, or a stale table of contents. Format your USB key and re-export from Rekordbox. See how to format and export tracks to a USB drive

Still an issue? Turn off the CDJ, unplug the power cable, plug it back in, and turn it on again.

E-9101 mechanical timeout

Press the CD eject button. Once a USB or CD is reinserted, the CDJ should show and play tracks as normal.

E-7022 panel CPU error

A CPU-level fault. A factory reset will not fix this — contact support directly for assistance.
