How to Record a Band in a Rehearsal Room

🎙️ Using CAPTURE in a rehearsal room

We're currently running a trial of the CAPTURE app in Bristol Studio 2.

To use:

• Connect to the CAPTURE app (currently only available for iPhone users). See this article for setup and download instructions.
• Once the app is downloaded, select your booking and hit Record. Two overhead mics on the ceiling will record the room.

🎛️ How to do a DIY setup

As always, the only gear we offer is shown on each room description. A Rehearsal room comes with guitar and bass amps, a drum kit (cymbals available only in Rehearsal Pro and Lite rooms), and the PA. We can't provide recording mics, extra cables, or stands — you'll need to bring these extras yourself, as we no longer stock spares.

Suggested items to bring for recording in a Rehearsal room:

• Your mics, XLRs, and mic stands. A minimal but effective setup: 3 mics on the drum kit (overhead, kick, and snare), 1 mic per amp, and connecting the vocal mics already in the room.
• Your audio interface, with enough channels and ports for the mics above.
• Your laptop with your recording software (DAW).
• Your headphones if needed, and a headphone amp.

Recording rooms and band recording

Our Recording rooms typically aren't large enough for a full band — they range from 65 to 175 sq. ft. and usually include a small control room with a separate mic booth. That said, if a small band can fit and you bring all necessary extras yourself (we only provide what's listed on the room description), you're welcome to record there.

If you're based in London or Manchester, these rooms offer a large live room with a separate control room, better suited to full bands:
