What are your studio types and uses?

Here is an overview for all of our room types and what they can be used for. Specifics for equipment can be viewed on individual room listings, and capacity is listed on book.pirate.com next to the person icon. This is the maximum number of people that can be in a session at once.

 

DJ

Best For:
DJ practice, small group DJ sessions, learning or teaching DJ skills, recording DJ sets.
Not Recommended For: Recording vocals, playing music through a phone, streaming music through speakers
Usage Notes: Tailored for DJs to practice and hone their skills, accommodating small groups for teaching or collaborative sessions. Recording DJ sets is welcome and enabled in some rooms with capture.audio 

  • Lite (Camden only): Pioneer XDJ-XZ all-in-one DJ system.
  • Standard: 2 Pioneer CDJ2000s and DJM900NSX2.
  • Pro: 3 Pioneer CDJ2000s or CDJ3000s, and DJM900NSX2.

Recording

Best For: Recording vocals, recording single instruments tracks, production work, mixing, providing a quiet space for track creation, recording voiceover work, recording audiobooks.
Not Recommended For: Recording full bands, drums.
Usage Notes: Designed for individual or small group recordings, this room ensures a controlled, quiet environment for vocals and music production.

  • Lite: Space for demo creation and songwriting, Arturia interface.
  • Standard: Space for producers and/or songwriters. Focusrite interface.
  • Pro: Space for producers, songwriters and vocalists. Focusrite interface.
  • Pro+: Great for longer working sessions with upgraded monitors and 34” ultra-wide screen for production. Focusrite interface.

Rehearsal

Best For: Band rehearsals, solo drum or music practice, practicing singing to backing tracks.
Not Recommended For: Recording (unless using personal recording equipment).
Usage Notes: Perfect for band rehearsals or individual practice sessions. While it's not primarily for recording, you can bring your own recording gear to capture your rehearsal sessions.

  • Lite: No guitar/bass amps, but cymbals included. Good for solo drummers or vocalists.
  • Standard: 1 Guitar amp and 1 bass amp, cymbals not included.
  • Pro: 2 Guitar amps and 1 bass amp, cymbals included.
  • Showcase: 2 Guitar amps and 1 bass amp, cymbals included, largest room with stage.

Podcast

Best For: Recording podcasts using up to 4 microphones, creating audio books.
Not Recommended For: Recording music.
Usage Notes:
This room is optimised for high-quality spoken word recordings, ideal for podcasters and audiobook creators. It accommodates multiple microphones for group discussions or interviews.

  • Standard: RØDECaster Pro unit, microphones and studio headphones included

Dance

Best For: Dance practice, lessons, or classes.
Usage Notes:
Specifically designed for dance practice or classes, this room offers ample space for movement and activities. Please avoid outdoor shoes to maintain the space.

  • Pro: A multipurpose space featuring industry-standard Harlequin sprung flooring, freestanding ballet barre, multicoloured mood lighting, a room-length mirror, air conditioning and sound system.
